‘That’s what I want to be known for’: Casemiro insists he is desperate to capture titles with Manchester United as the midfielder sets his sights on being remembered ‘as a player who wins championships’ at Old Trafford.
Manchester United star Casemiro has revealed he wants to be known for winning titles during his time at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian midfielder has been hugely impressive since joining United from Real Madrid, where he won an array of trophies.
United have a rich history but haven’t lifted any trophies since 2017. However, they have the opportunity to change that this weekend when they face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
In addition, Erik ten Hag’s side are through to the last-16 of the Europa League, where they will face Real Betis, while they will take on West Ham in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Red Devils are also just five points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, albeit having played a game more.
Casemiro acknowledges that winning the league will be tough, but he is determined to lift silverware.

Casemiro won several trophies in his time at Real Madrid, including five Champions Leagues
Casemiro told United’s official website: ‘I want to be known here as a player who wins championships.
‘That’s the most important thing. Regardless if we win or not, because we know it’s hard to win titles, especially the Premier League, where all games are tough.
‘But I want to win titles and important games here. It’s not easy. We know that. Especially because we’re talking about the most difficult league in the world.
”But that’s what I want to be known for.’
While at Real Madrid, Casemiro won the Champions League on five occasions, while also capturing three LaLiga titles, as many Club World Cups and the Copa del Rey.
In addition, he was part of the Brazil squad that won the Copa America in 2019.
United got off to a difficult start this season under Ten Hag, but they have produced some impressive performances of late and will be full of confidence heading into a crucial period of the season.
Casemiro featured as United overcame Barcelona in the Europa League play-off round with a 4-3 aggregate victory.
United will now turn their attention to the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle, and they will be determined to prevail at Wembley, which could give them the taste for further success.
Erik ten Hag’s side still have the chance to land silverware in four competitions this campaign.
