Premier League clubs fear Neymar is just using them to generate interest in the Paris Saint-Germain ace. Agents have offered the winger’s transfer to Liverpool and Newcastle United.
That is according to Graeme Bailey, who reports that agents have offered Neymar to all of the Premier League’s elite. They have contacted Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle to inform club chiefs of the Brazilian’s availability for a move.
Clubs in Europe are also on alert to the 31-year-old’s potential to leave Le Parc des Princes this summer. Paris Saint-Germain do not oppose bidding farewell to Neymar come the off-season. Even though the attacker is under contract through to 2027 in the French capital.
NEYMAR’S REPRESENTATIVES ARE CONVINCING CLUBS HE IS OPEN TO A TRANSFER TO ENGLAND
Neymar’s representatives have sought talks with Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Newcastle, as they believe they had to state the Paris Saint-Germain ace’s openness to any transfer to England. He has previously shown little interest in a career in the country.
The Brazilian’s previous opposition to playing in the Premier League now worries the clubs his agents have contacted. They fear Neymar is only using any interest they may show in a deal to generate interest elsewhere. Thus Premier League sides refuse to be used like that.
Neymar, though, is now open to testing himself on English shores following jaunts in Spain and France since leaving Brazil. He has spent the last six years in Ligue 1 following a £200m move from Barcelona in 2017. The winger enjoyed four years in La Liga while at Camp Nou.
CHELSEA WANT TO BEAT LIVERPOOL AND NEWCASTLE TO A DEAL WITH PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN
Chelsea are showing the most interest in a transfer for Neymar, despite agents offering the Paris Saint-Germain star to Liverpool, Newcastle and both Manchester clubs. Foot Mercato reports Blues co-owner Todd Boehly has met the winger’s camp to debate a possible deal.
He sought to sound out what avenues the Stamford Bridge natives could explore to strike a deal. Two options Boehly discussed with the 124-cap Brazil legend’s entourage included seeking to mutually end his contract with Les Parisiens or the fee his Ligue 1 club demand.
Boehly has recently met Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and he discussed Neymar. The PSG chief further told Boehly of their desire to sell the winger, whom manager Christophe Galtier calls ‘impeccable’ and has 18-goals, 17-assists in 29 games this season.
