Chelsea star Thiago Silva fell victim to a hilarious prank as he went to shake a West Ham mascot’s hand in the tunnel – but the Blues captain saw the funny side of the youngster’s trickery
Chelsea captain Thiago Silva saw the funny side after he was cheekily tricked by a West Ham mascot.
Silva was lining up along with his Blues team-mates, side by side with the Hammers squad in the tunnel as they prepared to do battle at the London Stadium. And the 38-year-old fell victim to a hilarious prank by one of the east London side’s mascots ahead of the tie.
The cheeky chap extended his hand out to Silva before swiftly retracting it to wriggle his fingers by his nose, leaving the Blues defender hanging. However, Silva saw the funny side and cracked a smile as he taunted the youngster with the same hand pose.
Silva incredibly fell victim to the same prank again shortly after, but he warmly touched the youngster’s shoulders this time, prompting the mascot to finally touch his hand. BT Sport shared the footage which was titled: “Thiago Silva just got done by one of the oldest mascot tricks in the book, alongside a handshake and crying face emoji.
The youngster’s trickery delighted fans who piled under the post to share their amusement. One fan exclaimed: “I thought it was great to see it!!!.” And a second user scoffed: “Cheeky little bubble blower,” next to a slew of laughing emojis.
Then a third simply declared: “Rolled.” However, new Blues star Joao Felix unleashed his skills on the pitch to give Chelsea the lead with a deft side-footed shot into the net. But the Hammers quickly cancelled out his effort when Emerson Palmieri pulled one back for them just shy of the half-hour mark.
The pressure is on Chelsea to secure three points after they splashed a staggering £232million in January’s transfer window. And the majority of their new signings including Enzo Fernandez, who assisted Felix’s goal, and Mykhaylo Mudryk were deployed by Graham Potter on Saturday afternoon.
