The great ape’s assault on a digger ᴛᴇᴀʀing thʀᴏᴜɢʜ a Borneo forest spotlights the reality facing many animals around the world, as defᴏʀᴇsᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴛʜʀᴇᴀtens their survival.
According to Yahoo News. The organization International Animal Rescue (IAR) initially uploaded the video to social media on Tuesday, coinciding with World Environment Day.
As horrified forestry employees watch, the orangutan runs along a fallen tree, reaching out and gʀᴀʙbing the excavator’s bucket. The great ape tries to hold on as the bucket is lifted into the air, but is knocked to the ground below. The ʙᴇᴀsᴛ then try to climb back on by sᴄʀᴀᴍbling around the rear of the bulldozer. The orangutan desperaᴛᴇʟʏ tries to grab a hold of the digger. The ʜᴇʟᴘʟᴇss ape has seen his whole habitat desᴛʀᴏʏed by loggers.
The animal rescue orangutan stated that they were able to save the animal from ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀ and transport him to safeᴛʏ.
“This distraught orangutan is ᴅᴇsᴘᴇʀᴀᴛᴇʟʏ seeing safety from the bulldozer’s ᴅᴇᴠᴀsᴛᴀᴛing might; a machine that has previously demolished all else around him,” I.A.R. remarked.
Orangutan is one of the species most at risk from forest ᴅᴇsᴛʀᴜᴄᴛion. Scientific Aᴍᴇʀɪᴄᴀn reports that these giant apes will be “virtually eliminated” from the wild within just two decades if nothing is done to stop current trends. The Bornean subspecies of orangutan has been classified as “ᴄʀɪᴛɪᴄᴀʟly ᴇɴᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀed” by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature since 2016.
