Graham Potter has warned there is no silver bullet solution to Chelsea’s goalscoring problems as he prepares to welcome back Joao Felix.
On-loan attacker Felix is poised to make his return from a three-game ban at West Ham on Saturday.
Chelsea have scored just seven goals in their last 12 league games. They have netted more than one goal just once in those dozen games, compared to six times in their first nine.
Potter said: ‘He’s a very gifted individual. Then it’s about how he fits in with the rest of the guys in the team.
‘It’s not necessarily about individuals, silver bullets that can come and fix your problems. It’s not quite as simple as that although it sounds like a nice way to fix the problem.’
Potter also insisted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s current predicament is not ‘terminal.’
Aubameyang was left out of Chelsea’s Champions League squad, putting his future in doubt, and also last week’s goalless draw with Fulham.
Chelsea and LAFC are both keen on a loan deal for Aubameyang though the MLS side are aware they face a battle to convince the striker.
In the meantime, Potter praised Aubameyang’s response to his Champions League setback and said: ‘We have got Joao, we have Kai [Havertz], we have got David [Fofana].
‘We thought we wanted to get more of a look at [them] in the short term but that’s not to say it’s a terminal situation for Pierre. We had to be honest with him and give him time.
‘But while he is here it’s not to say that will always be the case. That’s why how he has acted and responded has been really good.’
