Monet Nicole captures the special moments of a home birth.
Birth at home takes place in the presence of a midwife, and a necessary condition is that the birth takes place by the normal method and that the pregnancy is not considered high-risk. It is quite common abroad, and one of the reasons many women prefer it is that it is done in a familiar environment and the new mom can choose who she wants by her side, from the partner to older children, parents, and other family members in general.
Monet Nicole is a midwife and professional birth photographer. She has many years of experience and has attended more than 800 births. She believes that childbirth changes every woman who experiences it, and her own births were the inspiration and the reason to take up this type of photography professionally.
Monet’s Instagram account is an impressive portfolio of maternity photos. The photographer captures snapshots of births on the water, in the maternity ward, and at home, and the common element of all is the uniqueness of each moment. Her photos capture emotions and moments that a parent will remember for a lifetime. Another reason her photos have stood out is that they capture the raw beauty of childbirth. They do not beautify situations but highlight the magic of the moment.
The photographer often shares her experiences and thoughts through her posts. She recently shared snaps from a home birth and wrote on Instagram:
“Home birth after caesarean section. Magic.
Yes. It is more than possible to give birth safely at home, surrounded by those you love, after a C-section.
It’s not a trial run, it’s a well-thought-out plan.
More often than not, these births are successful, happy, and redemptive. In some cases, they have to happen, just as a cesarean birth has to happen again. Families, however, have the right to choose to give birth where they feel safe and understood.
You can imagine how difficult this birth was for this family. Because one birth can affect generations to come, can’t it?”

The snapshots just before the birth.
During the whole process, next to the new mom was her partner.
One more snapshot before the baby comes into the world.
This was the first normal birth for the mother, as her first child was delivered by caesarean section.
Seconds after birth, the midwife places the newborn on the mother’s chest.
The first hug – from the first photos of the newborn in his mom’s arms.
Feelings of joy are not hidden.
