Death Race, the plot of the film
In Death Race we find ourselves in the year 2012 in a particularly complex historical period because the largest nations in the world are in crisis due to the growing wave of crime and unemployment practically widespread in every latitude. In a context extremely dedicated to violence, the prison system is no longer able to manage the many infractions and crimes so it collapses.
At this point the US government decides to take a drastic solution, entrusting the prison system to private corporations which are naturally affected by criminal infiltration. These corporations will also decide to take advantage of this incredible task left to them by the government, to make the most profit possible. The profit is actually obtained by broadcasting live and via the web mortal competitions between prisoners for which it is necessary to pay a sort of ticket. In particular, the public goes crazy for a race in which the protagonists drive an armored car modified to make the best use of powerful firearms.
Soon one of the most loved and appreciated pilots by the public makes his way into this competition, who is called Frankenstein to keep his true identity hidden. Also, he wears an iron helmet that completely covers his face. Unfortunately, this great champion of these races against death loses his life just when he was about to earn his freedom as the system provides that after five victories the prisoner can return to freedom. In this situation a former champion of the Nascar formula who works as a worker in a foundry will find himself in spite of himself.
One evening as he returns to his home he has to witness the incredible murder of his wife and son by a masked man, who then makes sure that all the evidence allows him to get to the imprisonment and conviction of the pilot himself. Thus the former champion will find himself having to deal with these deadly races that are organized within the American prison system. The only way to be free again is to win 5 races but it won’t be easy also because the opponents can use any expedient given the absolute lack of rules.
