With This Stunning Toyota Supra RZ Restomod, A 90s JDM Icon Is Reborn

HotCars digital artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel breathes new life into this iconic Japanese sports car with updated styling and performance.

The Toyota Supra has existed in many guises since 1978 when it first rolled off the production line. It was a standout amongst sports cars from day one, but it really captured the imaginations of gearheads in 1993 with the reveal of the fourth generation. The MK4 Supra was in production for nine years and is arguably one of the best JDMs ever constructed. It was certainly one of the most popular and remains in strong demand to this day.

To celebrate this JDM icon, HotCars digital artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel takes the MK4 Toyota Supra to the next level by giving it the restomod treatment in a new concept render. Let’s dive into what this updated classic is all about.

Tampering with a vehicle that is so loved by enthusiasts is a risky business but Timothy Adry Emmanuel has taken up the challenge and the resulting imagery is jaw-dropping. The difficulty when producing restomods of such iconic cars like the Toyota Supra is to strike a balance between keeping the identifiable styling of the original and adding new elements to elevate it to be worthy of the modern market. Timothy manages this with spectacular results.

At the front end, the recognizable headlights remain mostly intact, but the front wings are in a wide-body style with subtle vents added that match the main intake vent. This version of the Toyota Supra is lower to the ground and features a tasteful front lip. This result is a sportier and more aggressive front that should is sure to please Supra fans.

Moving along the car, there are changes that only those familiar with the Toyota Supra will notice with a glance. The original shape remains but the contours that run from the front to the rear wheels receive an update.

There are sharper lines leading to the rear vents and sleek telescopic side mirrors that give the restomod a futuristic feel. This Supra has been slightly elongated and has a longer slope on the greenhouse that meets the rear in a seamless fashion. Timothy completes the profile of this restomod in stunning fashion with gold racing alloy wheels skinned with low profile tires.

There is also wide-body styling at the rear with bloated arches housing the back wheels. Timothy has gotten creative when addressing the signature looping spoiler too. He’s kept the basis of the original spoiler, but this version has an adjustable center section to aid performance. The rear lights are reminiscent of the fourth generation but now encompass twin exhaust ports.

The back of this insane restomod has a classy finish with added vents and highlighted fins on the bumper. Timothy has also provided another render of this restomod in an alternative red that looks ready for the road.

All that’s left is to imagine what might fit under the hood of this dream car.

While there are several options to power this Supra restomod, we can only think of one that is truly fitting: The Iconic 2JZ Inline-6 cylinder engine. Instead of going with the standard power of 320 hp, rebuilding the engine and adding a big single turbo could easily bring horsepower to 1,000.

Now that would be the only fitting engine to pay homage to this legendary JDM car and put it a step ahead of its modern sports car competition.
